COVID-19 UPDATE: Southern Cross Cinema Closure
Updated: 7 days ago
UPDATE 23/3/2020: NSW State Government has mandated shut-down of all entertainment venues and cinemas indefinitely. The anticipated length of the shutdown is six months - however the government states that this is subject to change.
UPDATE 19/3/2020: Due to proactive measures the Hilltops Council today is taking to prepare for the spread of coronavirus, Southern Cross Cinema will be closed until May 2020.
Southern Cross Cinema will be closed for the next two weeks and potentially for much longer while our public health system prepares to deal with the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus.
Although we are well under the mandated 500 person threshold limit on public gatherings and could stay open in the short term, we have learnt of several very sensible public health policies like "flattening the curve". The sooner we act as a community to maintain social distance, avoid public gatherings, observe cough and sneeze hygiene protocols and generally isolate ourselves from others, the less strain on our health system and the more lives will be saved when the dust clears.
We understand this may disappoint a great many of our regular patrons and the community as a whole, however we must do our bit and put the safety of the whole community before ourselves. Please keep an eye out for further information concerning our re-opening or further cancellations. Refunds will be available to current ticketholders, please contact the cinema by phone, e-mail or Facebook message.
